When 2009 ended with such a flurry of waves surfers around the Caribbean weren’t sure that the first few days of 2010 could deliver similar goods.  Little did they know what awaited them as the New Year dawned.

    Three stalwart surfers from the Dominican Republic strike out to tap a newly discovered wave in one of the deepest parts of Hispañola.

    Just when we thought the usual Christmas windiness was going to set it, Mother Nature threw a NE swell of epic proportions at us to end the calendar year of 2009 in style.

     With extremely atypical weather conditions for the Christmas season, the NE Caribbean has enjoyed stellar conditions since the middle of December creating a smorgasbord of waves feasted upon by the Surf Caribe lenses.
